Leads

Turn a lead into a customer

A lead becomes a customer when they buy. You can quote, book and message a lead without converting it, so convert when you're ready to keep them as a customer.

Convert a lead

  1. Open the lead and choose More actions, then Convert to customer. On the Leads page, it's Convert to Customer in the lead's menu.
  2. Click Convert.

The new customer gets the lead's contact details, address, source, services, tags, notes, activities, conversations, quotes, bookings and files, and Wrapstart opens their profile. The lead leaves your pipeline.

When you move a lead's job to In Progress on the Jobs board, Wrapstart asks Convert Lead to Customer? Click Convert & Continue to do both at once.

When the lead is already a customer

  1. Open the lead and choose More actions, then Merge with customer.
  2. Under Select Customer, find them. The dialog lists what will be merged.
  3. Leave Keep working this lead on to keep the card on your pipeline, linked to the customer. Turn it off to fold the lead into the customer.
  4. Click Merge Lead.

Returning customers

When someone you already have sends a form, or a known number calls, the new lead arrives linked to their customer record. It shows as Returning, with a banner and Open customer profile, and every message lands on their one conversation. To turn this off for forms, go to Settings, Branding, and switch off Link new leads to existing customers under Leads. Calls from a known number are always linked.

Important

Converting can't be undone, and an old link to the lead stops working. Deleting a lead can't be undone either.

Common questions

#### Why can't I find a lead I know exists?

Check the board tab, the pills and any filters. The Leads page loads your newest 500 leads, so use search for older ones. Blocked and converted leads don't show on Leads.

#### Why did a lead move to another column by itself?

Quotes, proposals, offers, bookings and follow-ups move leads forward automatically. See Pipeline view: stages, columns and automatic moves.

#### A form came in from someone who already has an open lead. Where did it go?

When the email or phone clearly matches an open lead, Wrapstart adds the submission to that lead instead of making a new one. When it isn't sure, it creates the lead and shows a possible-duplicate notice with Merge and Not now.

#### Can two people own one lead?

No. A lead has one assignee. Anyone with access to Leads can still open it, message the lead and add notes.

#### Is there a lead limit?

No. You can have as many leads as you get. Only the Leads page view is limited to your newest 500 at once.
